Dorchester Insurance Brokers Ltd is an independent, family owned, insurance brokerage located in Dorchester, ON. The brokerage was founded in 1989 by Brian Wallace and Ken Thornton. Ken's son, Derek, joined the brokerage in 2002, followed by Brian’s son, Owen in 2008. Upon Brian and Ken’s retirement in March of 2010, Derek and Owen took over full responsibility for the business. At the same time, they welcomed Dorchester resident, Joanne Murphy, as receptionist.
For over 20 years now we have been taking care of our client's insurance needs by specializing in personalized service. We also enjoy long-standing and strong relationships with the various insurance companies we represent.

Derek Thornton
Derek Thornton grew up in Dorchester, ON and graduated from Lord Dorchester High School. He attended Fanshawe College and received his Business Insurance diploma in 2002. The same year, Derek received his Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) license and joined Dorchester Insurance. He completed his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 2008.
Derek lives in London, ON and is presently in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend Katie. He enjoys golf, baseball, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Owen Wallace
Owen Wallace grew up in Dorchester, ON and graduated from Lord Dorchester High School. He attended Fanshawe College and received an Honours diploma from the Legal Assistant program in 1995. Owen received his Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) license in 1998 and has worked as an insurance broker since that time. In 2002, he received his Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation. Owen is currently working his way towards his Ontario Management Development Program (OMDP) designation. During the first ten years of his career Owen worked for Haas Insurance in London, ON. He joined the team at Dorchester Insurance in April 2008. He has extensive experience in handling personal and commercial insurance risks.
Owen is married to Rebecca and resides in Thamesford, ON. They have a son, Isaiah, who was born in 2007. Owen’s interests include fishing, sports, reading and spending time with his family and friends.
