Locally Operated
Our story began in 1989 when Dorchester Insurance Brokers Ltd. was founded by Brian Wallace and Ken Thornton.
Now under second-generation management, the team at Dorchester Insurance Brokers Ltd. continues to provide professional, friendly, and highly personalized service to families and businesses across Ontario.
Family Oriented
In 2002, Ken’s son Derek joined Dorchester Insurance Brokers Ltd., followed by Brian’s son Owen in 2008.

Community Involvement
We are proud to be from Dorchester, Ontario, and have operated as a locally operated brokerage here since 1989. As a company, we are deeply invested in our community and proudly support local events, groups, and initiatives.
We proudly support local community events and organizations, including the annual Dorchester Fair, Dorchester Minor Hockey Association, Dorchester Minor Soccer, Dorchester Dolphins Jr. C Hockey Team, Dorchester Minor Baseball, and Dorchester Ringette.

Derek Thornton

Derek Thornton grew up in Dorchester and attended Fanshawe College. After earning his Business Insurance Diploma in 2002, Derek obtained his Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) license and joined Dorchester Insurance. He completed his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 2008.
Derek lives in Dorchester with his wife, Katie, and their daughter, Rylie. An avid sports fan, he enjoys watching baseball, hockey, and European football. In his spare time, he likes playing sports, travelling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Owen Wallace

Owen Wallace grew up in Dorchester and attended Fanshawe College. After earning an Honours Diploma from the Legal Assistant program in 1995, he obtained his Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) license in 1998. Since then, he has worked as an insurance broker and earned his Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation in 2002. He joined the team at Dorchester Insurance in April 2008.
Owen lives in Dorchester with his wife, Rebecca, their son, Isaiah, and their daughter, Lyla. An avid sports fan, he enjoys watching baseball, hockey, football, and basketball. In his spare time, he likes fishing, reading, listening to music, playing golf, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Mike Dennis
CUSTOMER SERVICE BROKER

Mike Dennis grew up in Ingersoll and attended Sir Sandford Fleming College. Mike has been a licensed insurance broker for over 15 years and joined Dorchester Insurance in November of 2024.
Mike lives outside of Belmont with his wife, Emma and their son Mike Jr. In his spare time, he likes to work on cars, reading and listening to music and spending time with his friends and family.
