Step 1: Make sure you have the right information

Pictures or videos of the scene
Date, time, and location of the accident
Description of how the accident happened
Damage to your vehicle or to other vehicle(s)
If another driver or drivers were involved, collect:
Name and driver’s license number
Insurance company and policy number
Vehicle owner’s name, address, and phone number
Vehicle year, make, model, and license plate number
